Ambient Guitarist & Composer

Craig Aalders is an ambient guitarist and composer based in Vancouver, Canada. His work explores the relationship between sound, composition and improvisation. Craig's evocative soundscapes exemplify the use of abstraction to convey strong emotional, expressive and complex ideas.

When performing live Craig frequentley makes use of acoustic and electric guitars, synthesizers, laptop, and analog and digital processing to create a diverse, evolving, sonic terrain. His music shifts seamlessly between billowing textures, crackling static, and dense sound collages interspersed with improvised guitar.

Aalders' work has been performed throughout Canada. Highlights include: the Soundasaurus Festival of Multimedia Soundarts, the Sonic Boom Festival and the Further Series Electroacoustic Festival. Craig's piece "el8dEra 3m" won first place in the 2016 Musicworks Electronic Music Composition contest.

Craig is currently prepping to release his sophmore album Oceanography in 2018.
